What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth using transparent custom-made trays. The Invisalign aligners are made from a revolutionary patented material called SmartTrack®, which incrementally moves and rotates your teeth into the correct positions.

How does Invisalign treatment work?

Dr. Yun uses a high-tech 3D imaging system, the iTero Element®, to scan your teeth. Those images help analyze your bite problems and design an ideal Invisalign plan using the ClinCheck® software.

Before you start treatment, you’ll see a projected image of your future smile. The Invisalign laboratory creates your Invisalign aligners according to specifications from Dr. Yun, and you’ll have your new aligners within about a month.

You’ll get a series of aligners, which you switch out every 1-2 weeks to gradually straighten your teeth. The SmartTrack material is smooth and comfortable while still being remarkably strong. Generally, you’ll wear your aligners 20-22 hours daily until treatment is complete.

Most patients need a clear Vivera® retainer after Invisalign to maintain teeth alignment. You’ll wear the retainer full time to start, and then eventually reduce to overnight wear under Dr. Yun’s guidance.

When should I remove my Invisalign aligners?

You should remove your aligners when you eat or drink, and when brushing and flossing. Consistent wear is absolutely crucial in achieving great results, so adopt a routine that makes it easy and convenient to wear your Invisalign. For example, always bring an Invisalign case with you to keep your aligners safe when you’re eating out or away from home.

How long do I need to wear Invisalign?

The average patient wears Invisalign for 12-18 months, but you might notice progress much faster — maybe in just a few weeks.
